Jon Hannington

Jon joined Dow Corning Ltd in 1986, with a BSc. in Chemistry from the University Bath. During his career at Dow Corning Jon has specialised in the development of new silicone based polymeric materials ranging from liquid crystalline materials to novel additives for personal care products. Jon has developed expertise in the characterisation of thermal, rheological, and electro-optical properties of materials. He has supervised internal projects and numerous collaborations with Universities, and has also been involved in the development of new technology platforms and new business development activities within Dow Corning. Jon supervised the technical collaboration between Dow Corning and Prof K. Evans & Dr. Patrick Hook which developed technology that will be further developed within Auxetix.

Jon is currently based in the Polymers & Organics Technology Platform of Dow Corning's Advanced Technology and Ventures Business Group.

Jon has served on the Advisory Board of the COMIT (Communications & Mobile Information Technology) Faraday Partnership and is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (C.Chem) and of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining.
